For instance, people use commodities produced by people they do not know, and they produce commodities for people they do not know (History World 2011).
(b) Mercantilist can be described as the era before industrialization. It has been clearly described that this era involved the use of barter trade, exchange for goods and services for other goods and services. It was in this era that industrialization originated (History World 2011).
(c) Exploitation is the use of a commodity to its maximum capacity. For example, the exploitation of resources like land by a country to fulfill its needs. In the article, the European nations exploited the land resources of the African and Asian continents.
(d) As shown in the article, periphery describes a certain situation. For instance, the European countries extended their wealth at the periphery of Africa. It can also mean to extend beyond your own boundaries. In this case, the European nations extend their wealth by crossing to the African and Asia continents (History World 2011).
(e) Viable means profitable. For instance, agriculture is viable when it is done on a large-scale production.
(f) Capital can be described as the amount of resources that a person, an organization or country has collectively acquired for the sole purposes of being used in other productive ventures. For instance, the European nations acquired their capital by exploiting the resources of the African and Asian countries (History World 2011).

Sugarcane became was an export crop as opposed to its local use because, as compared to the other agricultural products it did not provide people with the essential nutrients. Additionally, it is more of luxury goods than a basic want. Lastly, its production for export is more profitable than local production.
This is because there was minimal labor to work in the sugarcane plantation thus making it unpopular in the Hispaniola after it was introduced by Columbus.

The first triangle explains the trade of slaves to Africa, the trade of commodities like tobacco and sugar to Europe and trade of finished goods like iron and clothes to Africa. The second triangle involves the trade of rum to Africa, the trade of slaves to West Indies and trade of molasses back to England (History World 2011).
Sugar was one of the causes of the American Revolution because, at first, the Americans were importing sugar from West Indies at duty free. This made the British angry, and they started to use the Navigation Act to stop unauthorized trade between America and West Indies. This resulted in one of the tensions causing the American Revolution (History World 2011).
There are two main reasons that made sugar have the agro-industrial characteristic enterprise. The first reason is that sugar is grown own land. Therefore, it is an agricultural product. This made it gain the characteristic agro. The second reason is that sugar must be produced so that it can be take with tea. This process of production made sugar production industrial. Henceforth sugar gained the characteristic agro-industrial enterprise.
