Topic: Birth control
Intra-uterine device (ParaGard, Mirena) IUDs are the most common and effective birth control methods being used by women today. According to research, only one out of 100 women get pregnant after using IUDs. This continues to increase its popularity among women today. It is reported that the ParaGard is suitable for preventing pregnancies after unprotected sexual intercourse but only if inserted within 120 hours after sex. The ParaGard and Mirena are the cheapest and longest lasting birth control methods for women today. They do not alter the hormonal levels of a woman and make periods lighter and are said to reduce period cramps. They can also be used during breastfeeding and once removed, the ability to become pregnant is quickly restored. Some limitations of IUDs include the pain during insertion, immense backache for a few days after insertion and the possibility of spotting between periods in the first three to six months. Mirena causes irregular periods and ParaGard causes heavier menstrual flows and worse period cramps. Other rare complications that are associated with IUDs include the possibility of some sometimes slipping out of the uterus, which increases the risk of pregnancy and some women develop bacterial infections when using IUDs. These complications are treatable when discovered early enough.
Topic: Intelligent design
No, because the existence of all beings on earth is not the result of evolution but that of a Supreme Being who created everything. This is evident given by the diverse intricacies and interdependencies of all the earth’s systems. Scientific explanations are not sufficient in determining the different species in the world and their functionalities. The composition of humankind is too complex to be the result of science and evolution. For example, how the human body operates. There exists complexity and specificity to every part of humankind in relations, thought and physicality. This, ‘work of genius’ could only be the result of a Supreme Being. The design of the earth is unique, giving way to the argument that intelligent design cannot be used to study science. Everything on earth was created for its special purpose and effect, something that cannot have been the result of science. This is because ID and science have differing beliefs and facts about the existence of humankind and earth species.
