Waheed-uz-zaman is director of NATIONALINSTITUTE OF HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL RESEARCH .ISLAMABAD . There are some bookswhich are also written by this author islam in south asia and Quied-e-AzamMuhammad ali Jinnah. This book is consist on total seven chapters. I will summarizethese chapters one by one . now let me startChapter no 1: introduction to historical backgroundThere was the time when muslims of subcontinent areinder the leadership of SIR SYED AHMADKHAN. He wants to make muslims socialy and educationly strong. His hugemovment was ALI GARH movement.
His thought was that muslim should be friendly with british , if they want to get independence from them.After someyears of his death in 1905, british got problems to administrate the bangal ,so on that time they divide the bangal in two parts east bangal and westbangal. In 1906 the first political party was establish to solve the issues ofmuslims in subcontinent with the name of ALLINDIA MUSLIM LEAGUE. IN 1916 an agreementwas made between muslims and hindus for common struggle for independence fromthe british. (luckhnow pact) . in 1919 a movment was started from the muslimswhich is famous with name of khilafat movment its purpose was secure the holyplaces.Chapter no 2:parting of the waysTo solve theissues of subcontinent a commission was sent to the india. This commission wasunder presidency of sir john simon.
Leagueand congress was bycott this commission. When this commission reach to india hemet with many slogans. One of themfamous is simon go back. Many meetings were held under the presidency of simon tosolve the problems . In 1928 a meeting held in colcuta in this meeting MOTI LALNEHRU present a report and this report was accepted by the commission. On thattime APS (all party session) refuse this report because this report wasapproximately agains to the muslims. After that time quied-e-azam present their 14 pointsin 1929.
In 1939-32there were three round table conference were held to solve the constitutionalreform of india. As a result of third rtc conference govt of india act 1935 waspassed.Chapter no 3: the fateful years Goi waspassed in 1935 .when elections of 1936 was held congress got 704 seats out of1585 in lower house and muslim league got only 106 seats out of 491. Congress discussto british that they will not interfere in their legislatures and britishagreed with them . many policies were against the muslims so congress use thesepolicies and start to torture the muslims mentally and physically. Muslims hadtroubles under the rule of congress.
On that time (shareef report was issued bythe muslim leaders for the rights of muslims. In 1939 when world war 2 startedviceroy of india announce war against the Germany . congress leaders asked for supportand independence after the war .viceroy refuse them so the congress leadersresigned from their posts . on that quied calling for muslims to celeberate 22december as a day of DELIVERNECEFROM THE CONGRESS.
Chapter no4: political philosophy of iqbal Iqbaleneterd in politics in 1927 and elected for the Punjab legislative council ifsee in history will understand that the iqbal political thinking and poetryaccepted by the whole world. During the stay in Europe he absorbed many ideaswhich effect on his earlier political philosophy . in Europe he saw the nationalismwhich is totally against to the islam his political philosophy based on islam .the main difference between iqbal and other internationalistics was that iqbal’spolitical based on religion and it was spiritual.The word POTENTIAL KINGDOM OF GOD ONEARTH MUST BE EMPHASISED . it was be-all and be-end of iqbal’s politics .his main concern was with establishment of an ideal society based on islam.Chapter no6: the nationalist muslims There weremany nationalist groups on the time struggle for the independence few wer explainhere 1st group was jamiat-e-ulma.
It was a separate muslimorganization which co-operates all the time with congress it was organize in1919. The 2nd was khudai khidmatgar movement this movement lead andcontrol by the abdul ghaffar khan . who belongs to a wealthy and aristrocraticfamily of Peshawar.it was organize in 1929 when it entered to the politics it become famous with the name of red shirtmovement and in 1931 it was affiliated with congress. The 3rd groupwas the ahrar group it was organized in 1929 it also work in closecollaboration of congress.
Chapter no7:the Lahore resolution and its implications Thisreolutiion was held in 22-24 march in 1940 in Lahore. Mr Jinnah open hispresidential addrerss on 22nd march. He said “muslims and hindus aretwo difffent nations belongs to difffentreligion,socially and customs are different. They never interdine togather andindeed belongs to the different civilizations. The implication of thisresolution was hindus give the name this resolution of Pakistan . thisresolution aggregation the muslims on a platform for independence and in shorttime Pakistan came into being in 1947.
