Critical thinking is a fundamental tool for good decision making. Everyone has prejudices or biases which can ruin good decision making. In all parts of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments. These judgments depend on knowledge and experience.
Without the potential to critically think, every situation that a person comes across will be considered as detachment from all other situations. At the point when a person experiences a new problem, he or she may be able to use critical thinking to solve those problems. Critical thinking also alters depending on basic motivation. When decisions are formed on selfish intentions; they often manipulate ideas to benefit their own interest.
To an effective critical thinker, one needs to have the ability to examine facts and make a decision based solely on those facts. Critical thinking can help one make better decisions, and become better thinkers.Critical thinking can be utilized in so many ways and methods. For instance, Critical thinking demands students to go beyond their rote memorization, demands teachers and instructors to step out their lecturer’s box, and demands schools to help educators implement critical thinking across the curriculum. Most students have unexpected behavior changes, such as refusing to follow rules, having disruptive outbursts, and emotional problems, which can end up becoming physical towards others and themselves.
If these problems are not handled appropriately the behavior can get out of hand and becomes hard to stop. Critical thinking plays a role in teaching by using analytical and intuitive decision making to help solve problems, when an instructor thinking is flawed then decisions are distorted and the problem is not solved, making bad decisions would cause more problems which could result in putting one and other people in danger. Utilizing critical thinking increase the likelihood of resolving the problem through better decisions and choices. Many people call critical thinking to “over-thinking” or “over-analyzing” as a bad thing to do, however overthinking is just a dismissive word for critical thinking. According to Mike Rugnetta, a YouTuber who host the PBS Idea Channel stated in of his videos that “Overthinking is one of the ways to dismantle and examine the culture that has been given to us by the powerful class of people who produce it.
” (A Defense of Overthinking Pop Culture). This video was the second part of last three episode in which Mike was talking about the principle that guided the PBS Idea Channel. Mike explains that overthinking is a negative term used to describe critical thinking, meaning critical thinking and overthinking means the exact same thing. In another video, Mike argued that critical thinking “… is not about being objective, it’s being honest, assessing, adjusting and making use of the thinking self, including one’s position and perspective.” (Thinking With Other).
Mike explained that in order to do his job on idea channel he has to overthink by thinking critically. Most people are just resistant to thinking critically because of the work and time it takes and some are just being objective to learn.
