Greek mythologyBy:Erick Irvin There are a lot of things to know about Greek mythology such as the gods,goddesses,demigods and monsters and their lives, their deaths, their battles, their fears, their enemies and their friends. Many myths makeup this mythology and they were used to explain their religious beliefs. This mythology is still as interesting today as it was 4,000 years ago. We know this by the Percy Jackson books and even Disney movies. God’sIn this subtopic I am going to talk about Zeus,Poseidon and Hades and their lives. Zeus Zeus is the sky God and the king of all Gods and Goddesses.
He is the son of Cronus and Rhea. Zeus was almost eaten by his father until the mother decided to switch Zeus with a rock to trick Cronus. Zeus has brothers and sisters, but the two most famous brothers are Poseidon (God of the Sea.) and Hades (God of the underworld.).
Zeus later on married his sister, Hera, and had a lot of kids.Symbol:Lightning boltPicture:PoseidonPoseidon is the God of the sea. He too is the son of Cronus and Rhea. His brothers are Zeus (God of the sky and king of Gods and Goddesses.) and Hades (God of the underworld.). Poseidon fell in love with the gorgin named Medusa. He later married Amphitrite and had 3 kids.
Symbol:TridentPicture:Hades Hades is the god of the underworld. He also is the son of Cronus and Rhea. His brothers are Zeus (God of the sky and king of all gods and goddesses.) and Poseidon (God of the sea.). Hades has a guard dog that has three heads.
He later on married Persephone and had 2 kidsSymbol:Helm of darknessPicture:Demigods Demigods are half god half human. Some of the most famous are Helen and HerculesHelen Helen was the daughter Zeus and Leda. Her foster father Tyndareus.
She was so beautiful that when she was abducted by Paris people wanted her back so badly that it started a war. Later she married Menelaus.Picture: Hercules Hercules is one of the most famous demigod who ever lived. He is the son of Zeus and Alcmene. Just when he was a baby he was kidnapped by Hades.
Hades wanted to kill Hercules so he made him drink a potion that would make him mortal. But since he did not drink the last drop he still kept his strength. Hercules is well known for his strength and all of the monsters that he killed. Hercules later on married Megara and had 5 kids but eventually he killed all of them.PictureMonster’sMinotaur The Minotaur is half human half bull. He has a head of a bull and body of a human. He lived in the center Cretan Labyrinth. The Minotaur was killed by Theseus.
Picture:SirensSirens are very dangerous creatures that lived on island that were rocky. The reason for that is because they lured nearby sailors and their ships over to the rocky island so their ship would crashPicture:Gorgon’sGorgon’s are monsters from the underworld they are described as hideous and scary. The most famous gorgon is probably Medusa. The person who killed Medusa is Perseus.Picture:Greece Greece was the main country that practiced this religion. Even though Greece came up with this religion some of the Romans adopted some of their Gods to be theirs. Greece came up with the religion in 2,000 B.C and it was finished in 700 B.
C Greece became a country on March 25, 1821. Greece is located by Turkey, Mace, Albania, and Italy. Greece’s capital is Athens, and their currency is Euro. Some of its landmarks include The Parthenon,The Meteora and The Acropolis of Athena. `BattlesTrojan War The Trojan War happened because Paris kidnapped Helen of Troy. She was the wife of Menelaus who was the King of Sparta.
In this war the Greeks hid inside a giant wooden horse to trick the Trojan soldiers into taking it inside their fortress. Titanomachy The Titanomachy was a series of battles fought by the Olympians, led by Zeus The Titans, led by Gaea and Uranus. This war lasted around 10-years and was fought in Thessaly. In the end the Olympians came out victorious to rule the Universe. Pandora’s box Pandora’s box happen when Thessaly stole fire from the heavens. Zeus took vengeance by presenting Pandora to Prometheus’ brother Epimetheus. Pandora’s box contained all sorts of evil.
