In this industrial age, pollutioncannot be eliminated completely, but steps can be taken to reduce it.
For airpollution, the gases released during the burnt of the fossil fuels is the maincontributor for it. Therefore, we can start from reducing the burning of fossilfuel and coal. We can use renewable or green energy sources such as solarenergy, hydro-power, geothermal energy and wind energy rather than relying onfossil fuels or coal energy. Otherthan that, we can use energy devices and always be mindful of energyconsumption. We must always make sure the TV, lights, fans, and any otherelectronic appliances is turn off when not in use in order to reduce theconsumption of unnecessary energy. This is because large amount of fossil fuelsis burnt to produce electricity. Then, we can try to use CFL lights whichconsume less electricity (Refer appendice-22).
CFL lights not only consume less electricity, it is also live longer, theelectricity bills for it is low and it can reduce pollution by consuming lessenergy. Besides that, pollution can be reduced by using individual levelprevention methods. Many ways can be used by the individual to help to reduceair pollution. Firstly, individuals who are aware of the causes and effects ofpollution can spread the awareness for their family, friends, colleagues andencourage them to use public transportation when heading to their destinations. This is to reduced the released of greenhouse gasses from vehicles. Secondly,we can use reuse, reduce and recycle method.
Reusing some substances such aspapers, tissue papers, plastic bags or bottles can reduce the loads of pollution. In addition, water pollution can me overcome through industrial waste water treatment. Loads of waste water containing high concentrations ofconventional water pollutants and other contaminants such as ammonia are normallygenerated by industries.
Thus, it required well-designed treatment and watercooling systems to reduce the water pollution caused by industries. Pre-treatmentfacilities and adoption of quality waste treatment protocols can be install forthe use to eliminate the toxic contaminants. Moreover,anti-pollution laws and regulations at local, state and international levelsare effective way to curtail water pollution. Laws plays an excellent role toensure water pollution levels are kept to the minimum. Environmental protectionpolicies such as the Clean Water Acts work to ensure that anti-pollution lawsare effective and apply to all significant waters including ground water.
Anti-pollutionlaws can as well establish measures that put restrictions for top waterpollution problems such as sewage and industrial waste treatments and garbagemanagement. These laws should be directed to marketplaces, industries, hospitals, schools, and the local councils.
