Health and ethical issues remain tobe a great headache within the walls of the reformatories as maladies take downsome of the delinquents before their term is over. This suffering indeed canmake one to change any undesired behavior, while at the same time may bepunishing some innocent person who was sentenced.In addition, relatives may be put into infinitepoverty after the wage earners are whisked away in the jails.
Furthermore, somepeople having pre-existing health problems before their sentence may not survivethe jail term, which can be avoided by alternative punishments toincarceration. Inaddition, first-time offenders suffer the same course as other reprobates.In conclusion, courts need to reconsider sentences accordingto the level of offence. As presented above, other punishment such as fines,community service, restitution, probation among others may be more efficientboth to the society and to the individual as compared to incarceration.
