My veterans who have been affected by frequent

My
professional goal is to obtain a Master’s degree in counseling with a
specialization in clinical mental health counseling and become a Licensed Professional
Counselor. I myself am a veteran and would enjoy creating a better professional
and private environment for soldiers and veterans who have been affected by
frequent deployments as well as their families to help them overcome their personal
and social problems that have negative influences on their lives. As
an in individual I was always interested in interpersonal relationships and assisting
in strengthening peoples mental and physical well-being, some of the most
impactful moments have been heart-to-heart conversations with people expressing
their family, emotional and career issues. As a veteran and military spouse, I
have witnessed the shortage of qualified mental health professionals within the
military community. I decided to pursue the counseling profession to give back
to the community that has been beneficial to my intellectual growth, and my educational
pathway.

Through my
personal experiences as a solider and military wife I have witnessed the stressful
lifestyle and many day-to-day challenges members in the military and their
families face. Many military personnel are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan
in dire need of mental health services, unfortunately the ratio of providers to
clients throughout the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans
Affairs is grossly disproportionate. My personal experiences have put me in the
unique position to truly understand and relate to the conflicts of my clients
which will in return increase credibility with my clients, and should contribute
to a good client-therapist relationship. I whole heartedly believe that I can
make a significant difference in military families’ lives with the aid of a
degree in clinical mental health counseling.

Many
skills that I possess are vital to the mental health community in terms of
perceptual, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, I am a very diligent person
who is often praised for my observation skills along with my empathy. It’s
always been very important for me to help others overcome their own difficulties
and diminish their burdens through therapy. Happiness and wealth are the keys
to living longer and fulfilling lives and they both start from within. As
a psychology professional, I look forward to an extensive career helping patients
realize their fullest potential, and discover happiness in life through the
development of healthy relationships with both family and society.

As a fulltime working
mother and wife, the distant learning format of learning has provided me with
the greatest amount of opportunities. Attending your program will challenge my
intellectual and emotional growth and greatly sharpen my professional skills in
helping people to lead happier and more fulfilling lives through the
development of positive and sustainable relationships. Nova Southeastern
University quality clinical mental health counseling program is exactly what I
was looking for because it allows me to continue to support my family financially
while pursuing an excellent education. I would be honored to become part of NSU
community of students, and I am looking forward to the immersion in the study
of counseling strategies, intervention models, and the early diagnosis and prevention
of problems
