Rosa ParksHeroes are leaders. Heroes make a difference in the world. Heroes put their heart into what they do. Heroes have a purpose of doing what they do. A hero in my life is Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks is my hero because of the impact she made on not only the lives of African Americans, but other people around her too. Rosa Parks believed in something and made it happen. She refused to give up her seat on a bus because she believed that African Americans and White people should be treated fairly. Despite being put into jail, she kept fighting for what she believed in. Rosa Parks started the Montgomery Bus Boycott to stop the segregation on the buses. People finally gave in, and the buses weren’t segregated any more. Due to her impact she became known as “The First Lady of Civil Rights” and “The Mother of the Freedom Movement.” However, her life after the bus boycott wasn’t perfect. Both her and her husband lost their jobs, and soon later the two and their mother moved to Detroit, Michigan. In Michigan she was a secretary and receptionist in U.S. Representative John Conyer’s congressional office. She also was on the board of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Rosa Parks is a hero. She was a leader, as she lead America one step closer to getting rid of segregation. She had a purpose of helping the world, and she achieved disregarding the consequences. Even after the consequences, she didn’t let people and their mean comments stop her. Even though, Rosa Parks may not see herself as a hero, because all heros are modest, others recognize her. Following her actions, she was named as one of the 20 most influential people, she was given the Governor’s Medal of Honor for Extraordinary Courage, and Alabama Academy Award. Her courageous and risky acts are what makes a hero, even today. Rosa Parks is a hero and she has helped shape the world. Rosa Parks: A Hero To MeIt all began on a bus,When a white man started to make a fuss.A lady had taken a white man’s seat,After a long day working on her feet.Rosa Parks was her name,And she just wanted to make a claim. She is a hero to me, And she helped the world, as you can see. African Americans had to sit in the back,And many other rights they lacked. But Rosa Parks didn’t understand,So she decided to take a stand. A white man came on the bus, Yelling at Parks just because.Since she had a different race, He wanted to take her place. However, she refused to move, Because she had a point to prove. Danger approached her as the cops came, But when they took her she had no shame. When she was released,She still hadn’t ceased.Next up, was the Montgomery Bus Boycott as it is known, The buses were what the African Americans wanted to disown. They walked here and there, Because it was unfair. Soon after, buses were split no more, And that is what Rosa Parks became known for. “The Mother of the Freedom Movement” is her nickname for a fact, And her actions that all began on a bus have made a big impact. She is a leader to all of us, And she is the reason for equality on a bus. Today we aren’t assigned to the back or front, And that is why Rosa Parks wanted to confront. Her dream came true, And now we can sit wherever we want, both you and me too. She is a hero to me, And to others she must be.
