The narrative poetry tells a story in verse form. Usually, it is a long poem, which contains all the elements of a story such as a plot, characters, theme, setting, dialogue etc. Narrative poetry also presents conflicts, the build-up to the climax and an ending.
It also contains elements of poetry such as forms of sounds or rhythms, which distinguish it from prose. This type of poetry is considered to be the oldest form of literature. In my opinion, the three historical events that could be considered worthy of a narrative poem are: The appearance of Magna Charta, The Battle of Belgrade and The first Union of the Romanian Principalities.

In 1215 King John of England was into a critical situation. His subjects accused him of tyranny and ignorance of the feudal law. He was hated because he imposed very heavy taxes, extorted money from people and many other things.
The barons patience was over. A civil war started on 15 June. The barons met with the king at Runnymede where John Lackland was forced to accept Magna Charta. The main role of this charter was to stop the abuses.
Among others principles “no free man could be arrested, imprisoned or dispossessed without lawful judgment. Also, the kings could not rule arbitrarily, they had to obey English laws and English customs the same as other men.” (Davis, 1963, p.121) Magna Charta is considered to be one of the things that have changed the world.
It is a symbol of freedom from all over. During the Romanian Middle Ages, there were many military clashes performed on the territory of Wallachia. The Romanian rulers were fighting hard against the oppression of the major powers. In 1453 the Ottomans had conquered the Constantinople.
As a result of this, the Sultan Mehmed II began a new campaign in Europe in order to conquest Belgrade, which was considered “the key to entry to Europe” (Nitsch-Petioky, 1999, p.320). Against the Ottoman army was organized a Christian counteroffensive. It was led by John Hunyadi, the voivode of Transylvania. He organized the defence of Belgrade and the fights ended in Turks defeat. In history, it is considered that this battle had decided the faith of European Christianity because the victory obtained by John Hunyadi at Belgrade stopped for 70 years the Turks offensive to the centre of Europe. After the Crimean War (1853-1856), which ended in Russian Empire`s defeat, at Paris took place a Congress of Peace.
In 1856 there was signed the Treaty of Paris. This document had provisions regarding the Romanian Principalities. Among others stipulations, it was decided the consulting of the population about the union. In 1857 there were organized ad-hoc meetings in Moldavia and Wallachia. The people`s biggest desire was the unification of the Romanian Principalities under a single country called Romania.
The resolutions of these ad-hoc meetings were analyzed in 1858 at Paris Conference, where Paris Convention was adopted. As a result of this, the United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia were created but they had different rulers, different governments and different legislative assemblies. In January 1859 there were organized elective meetings. Alexandru Ioan Cuza was chosen a ruling prince of both territories: 5 January Moldavia and 24 January Wallachia.
In conclusion, there are a lot of historical events worthy to be transformed in narrative poems. Even though it is a strange form of poetry it has a lot of admirers all around the world. The most famous titles are: The Homeric Epics, The Divine Comedy by Dante, The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer etc
